NKSHR The NKSHR is a National Legacy Project of the Government of South Africa. The aim of the NKSHR it is to establish “fitting houses of memory” to identify, highlight, conserve and document the contribution and history of the Khoekhoen and San. The route will give tourists and all South Africans, in particular descendants of the Khoekhoen and San, access to the heritage and substantial legacy of the Khoekhoe and San people in a spirit of national reconciliation and social cohesion. The NKSHR is being implemented by the Chief Directorate Heritage of the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture (DSAC), in partnership with relevant provincial departments, the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), the National Heritage Council (NHC) and the National Department of Tourism (NDT).
