Samancor WCM Millsell and Waterkloof Sections: Waterkloof Opencast Mine

Samancor Chrome Ltd – Western Chrome Mines (WCM) is in the process of applying for an amendment environmental authorisation application in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998) and the Waste Management Licence in terms of National Environmental Management Waste Act, 2008 (Act No. 59 of 2008) as amended, and the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations of 2014, as amended to undertake opencast mining of chrome at the Waterkloof Section and for the establishment of a new road, a waste rock dump and Run of Mine (ROM) pad. The Millsell and Waterkloof Sections are located on various portions of the farm Waterkloof 305 JQ, in close proximity to the towns Kroondal and Rustenburg, North-West Province. The proposed opencast areas and related activities are located on Portions 146 and 341 on the farm Waterkloof 305JQ.
