Proposal Description
Proposed excavation of the sedimentary deposits at a sand dune in the Baden-Baden Farm 1363 near Dealesville, Free State (landowner Mr. Nellis Nel). The primary goal of the research is to reconstruct Pleistocene environments based on plant proxies, and assess the age of the deposits by luminescence dating. In addition, the excavation is aimed at collecting Middle Stone Age artifacts visible at the surface and eroding out of the dune.
