Proposal Description
Blastrite proposes to expand the Grit Plants operations and processes by undertaking the following:
• Increasing the volume of platinum slag stored in the existing stockpile to, in excess of 100 000 tons/month. There will be no vegetation clearance as the stockpile area will be within the boundary of the existing transformed area where the stockpiling is currently taking place;
• Install an additional Grit Plant drier adjacent, and to the left of the existing grit drier to increase the production capacity from ±7000 tons/month to ±30 000tons/month of finished products
Expand the existing Grit Plant Drying Fuel Installation fuel reserves with above ground storage tanks, within the existing bunded area, to above 80m³ of cumulative diesel fuel storage to provide sufficient fuel reserves for the existing operations and the additional grit dryer (there are existing fuel reserves on the site with a capacity of 75.6m3
. An additional 2 x 23m3 of fuel storage is proposed. Therefore, the cumulative fuel storage will be 121.6m3);
• Sufficient product bunkers and warehouse storage is available for the increased production levels, and thus, no expansion is required for these facilities. Similarly, the packaging plant can process the increased production volume without expansion; and
• The plants operational hours of 24-hours per day, five (5) days a week will be increased to operate 24-hours per day, seven (7) days a week. North-West Province.
