Chemwes (Pty) Ltd (a subsidiary of Harmony Gold Mining Company Ltd) is looking to supplement its energy supply by implementing Photovoltaic (PV) generation, aiding their transition to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy mix.
The development of a solar photovoltaic (PV) facility with a generating capacity of up to 15MW is proposed ~3.2km north of the Mine Waste Solutions Facility, a tailings retreatment plant operated by Harmony Gold. The site is located approximately ~4km northeast of the town of Stilfontein within the JB Marks Local Municipality and within the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, North West Province. The solar PV development will be known as Harmony Chemwes Solar PV Facility.
