Proposal Description
The South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA) in collaboration with the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture is currently undertaking a restitution and reburial programme which aims to repatriate and restitute human remains buried.
As part of honouring ancestors, considering the ethical considerations and providing traditionally sound burials, the remains are to be reburied in a dignified manner, whilst allowing the families to have closure.
As part of the programme, the Department of Sport, Art and Culture, together with SAHRA identified Chief Stokwe’s grave to form part of the programme.
A service provider, MAHLAMVINI TRADING AND PROJECTS PTY LTD was awarded the project.
