Proposal Description
A letter from an Australian of Zulu and Swazi descent asking about objects in our collection sold to the museum in 1884 by Edward Strickland. He asserts that they were stolen during the British invasion of Zululand in 1879, and if so are under de facto international law as restorable. These objects are possibly related to the seizure of items at the Battle of Ulundi in 1879-80, though we as yet have no documentary evidence of this.
