THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT OF THE ORKNEY SOLAR 2 PHOTOVOLTAIC SOLAR ENERGY FACILITY AND ASSOCIATED INFRASTRUCTURE, NEAR ORKNEY, NORTH WEST PROVINCE

The development of a photovoltaic (PV) solar facility is proposed within the City of Matlosana Local Municipality and the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, North West Province. The project forms part of a cluster and is proposed to be located in close proximity to the Orkney Mvala Photovoltaic Solar Energy Facility project. The proposed development is located on Portions 33 and 81 of the Farm Goedgenoeg No. 433 located approximately 8 km southwest of the town of Orkney. The solar PV facility will comprise several arrays of PV panels and associated infrastructure and will have a contracted capacity of up to 150 MW. An area of approximately 347 hectares is under assessment for the development.
