Amended - Radiocarbon dating of faunal material from Spitzkloof D rockshelter 2023

Spitzkloof D Rockshelter in the Northern Cape Province is a recently excavated (permit #2957) inland site with a potentially long occupational record that may capture the early adoption of herding by foragers living in a challenging environment. The successful excavation during our 2019 field season recovered a large number and variety of artifacts which are now being analyzed. Thus the next step is to radiocarbon date samples from the site in order to situate it within the timeline for the adoption of herding in Namaqualand, Northern Cape.
