The proposed Amersfoort Solar Power Plant near Amersfoort, Mpumalanga Province

The proposed Amersfoort Solar Power Plant development is located on Portion 54 of the Farm Amersfoort Town and Townlands No. 57, approximately 3 km southwest of the town of Amersfoort. The solar PV facility will comprise several arrays of PV panels and associated infrastructure and will have a contracted capacity of up to 60 MW. An area of approximately ~180 hectares is under assessment for development. Amersfoort Solar Power Plant will include PV modules and mounting structures, inverters and transformers, an Infrastructure and Ancillary complex, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), site and internal access roads, operation and maintenance buildings including a gate house and security building, control centre, offices, warehouses and workshops for storage and maintenance, temporary and permanent laydown areas. Facility grid connection infrastructure will include on-site facility substations, internal cabling or power lines between the project components and the onsite facility substation, Loop-In-Loop-Out (LILO) into the existing power line adjacent to the proposed solar PV facility and/or cabling or power lines between the facility substations and the Koppieskraal Traction Substation.
