    Object Description

    REDUNDANT ASSET-An identical locomotive of this class - Locomotive GEA Garratt # 4023, is preserved at the Transnet Transport Museum in George . The history of this class is captured in two publications " locomotives of the South African railways" by Leith Paxton and David bourne and " Railways of Southern Africa 150 years by Jean Dulez. A copy of both publications are available at the museum for reference purposes. Locomotive drawings (plans) and other information relating to this class are in safe custody at the Transnet Heritage Library.
