Object Description

REDUNDANT ASSETAn identical locomotive of this class - Locomotive 15AR # 1850 is preserved at the Bloemfontein Locomotive depot and forms part of the Transnet collection. The museum has two books where the history of this class is captured " Locomotive of South Africa" by Leith Paxton and David Bourne and "Railways of Southern Africa" by Jean Dulez. Drawings(plans) and other historical information relating to this class is in safe custody at the Transnet Heritage Library.
