The KZN Amafa & Research Institute does not have any objection regarding the proposed development. The following protocols must be adhered to:For archaeological and historical remains:1) If any artefacts are uncovered during the development process all activities must cease. The Environmental Officer and the Heritage Impact Practitoner as well as the KZN Amafa & Research Institute must be informed immediately.2) Do not remove any artefacts.3) A no-go area or danger tape must be secured around these remains with a 25m buffer.4) If the site is a burial site, a buffer of 50m must be implemented around the graves/burial ground.5) Impact on any unknown burial site, needs a destruction permit.For paleontological sites and eco-facts:1) If any fossils are uncovered during clearing, drilling, blasting, digging and excavating, activity must stop.2) The Environmental Control Officer, the Heritage Practitioner and the KZN Amafa Research Institute must be informed.3) A 30m buffer must be implemented around any paleontological remains that were uncovered.4) A destruction and/or collection permit would be necessary if the site was going to be excavated and eco-facts were going to be collected.
