Interim Comment
In terms of palaeontological heritage, the SA Palaeontological Sensitivity Map indicates that the study area has Very High fossil sensitivity, therefore a palaeontological assessment and protocol for finds is required. Once this assessment has been submitted, SAHRA will be able to provide further comments.
In terms of archaeology, the SAHRA Archaeology, Palaeontology and Meteorites Unit supports the findings and recommendations of the specialist report, providing that an archaeological chance finds procedure is included in the Environmental Management Programme (EMPr).
Comments and decisions relating to the living heritage features recorded in the assessment must be obtained from the Gauteng Provincial Heritage Resources Agency.
