Response to NID
As per section 38(2)a of the NHRA, the SAHRA Archaeological, Palaeontological and Meteorites (APM) Unit notes that it is likely that archaeological heritage resources will be impacted by the proposed line. Therefore, a field assessment of archaeological resources is required, to be conducted by a qualified archaeologist.
As the proposed line is located in area of moderate palaeontological sensitivity, a desktop assessment of the impact to palaeontological resources be undertaken. The assessment must be conducted by a qualified palaeontologist.
Both reports must comply with section 38(3) of the NHRA and the SAHRA 2006 Minimum Standards: Archaeological and Palaeontological Component of Impact Assessments, and the 2012 Minimum Standards: Palaeontological Component of Heritage Impact Assessments.
