Response to NID
As per section 38(2)a of the NHRA, the SAHRA Archaeological, Palaeontological and Meteorites (APM) Unit notes that it is likely that archaeological and palaeontological heritage resources may be impacted by the proposed line. Therefore, a field-based assessment of archaeological resources is required to be conducted by a qualified archaeologist.
As the proposed line is located in area of low and very high palaeontological sensitivity, a field-based assessment of the impact to palaeontological resources be undertaken. The assessment must be conducted by a qualified palaeontologist.
The reports above must comply with section 38(3) of the NHRA and the 2007 Minimum Standards: Archaeological and Palaeontological Components of Impact Assessments and the 2012 Minimum Standards: Palaeontological Component of Heritage Impact Assessments.
Further comments will be issued upon receipt of the above.
