Interim CommentThe South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA) Archaeology, Palaeontology and Meteorites (APM) Unit cannot provide comments on this proposed development until submission of the details of the social consultation process with the local GaMashishi royal family and any other consultation with the local community. Also, the HIA does not state whether the local community agree with mining on the hill. If there is no record of this consultation then a new thorough social consultation process must be undertaken to record known intangible heritage relating to Sekgosi hill and to understand if the local community has no objections to the mining on the hill. A report on this consultation must be added to the HIA and with detailed mitigation measures must be included depending on the findings of the consultation process. SAHRA will provide further comment once this additional information is uploaded to the case along with along other reports submitted to DMRE for the amendment application.
