Interim CommentThe HIA submitted to the case is not an updated HIA that was requested in the initial mine right application. The SAHRA issued an Interim Comment (https://sahris.sahra.org.za/node/502706) on the 2018 mine right application on SAHRIS (case ID 12311) (https://sahris.sahra.org.za/cases/glenover-mining-right-application). The Interim Comment dated 28/03/2018 requested the following:"However, the author of the HIA must amend the HIA report to include a tracklog of the field assessment, as per the 2007 HIA report guidelines. Also, the HIA does not mention the age of the existing mine infrastructure buildings. Apart from site 1 and 2, the HIA must clearly define the age of the processing infrastructure. As the mine area is located in a grey palaeo-sensitivity area, SAHRA exempts the development from undertaking a palaeontological impact assessment. However, since the surrounding area is of moderate sensitivity a fossil chance finds procedure should be developed and included in the EMPr, for implementation, in the unlikely event of fossils being uncovered during mining activities."In order for SAHRA to process this application an amended HIA as previously requested must be submitted to the case. The amended HIA must also assess the current proposed activities.
