Interim Comment
The SAHRA Archaeology, Palaeontology and Meteorites (APM) Unit requests that the HIA be revised to include the following:

A map showing the location of identified heritage sites in relation to the proposed development footprint and layout. This must include previously identified heritage sites such as those identified in the 2011 HIA. If this requires a second site visit be conducted to confirm the location, extent and significance of these sites, then this must occur;
A map showing the tracklog of the conducted site visit;
A significance assessment of the identified heritage sites;
A description of the sampling methodology noted in section 3.4 and as indicated in figure 31, noting any permit applications for this invasive work;
An assessment of the impact of all activities of the proposed development, including blasting;
Updated mitigation and management measures for the identified heritage sites taking into consideration the updated impact assessment requested in the point above.

Further comments will be issued upon receipt of the above revised report and the draft EIA documents inclusive of appendices.
