As per the recommendations of the desktop HIA, a field-based HIA must be conducted for the development as part of the EA application. The field-based HIA must comply with section 38(3) of the NHRA and the 2007 Minimum Standards: Archaeological and Palaeontological Components of Impact Assessments. This HIA must conducted prior to the finalisation of the EA application.
SAHRA advised the applicant to extend the EA process in terms of section 23(1)b of the NEMA EIA Regulations in order to address this comment. Further comments will be issued upon receipt of the above requested report and an amended EIA that incorporates the results of the HIA.
