The cultural-history collection known as the Groote Schuur collection and presently housed at the Groote Schuur manor house on the Grote Schuur Estate, in Cape Town, consisting of all the furniture, clocks, porcelain, ceramics, silver, brass and metal-ware, as well as all the paintings, books, photographs, carpets, textiles and weapons, which was mainly collected by Cecil John Rhodes (1853-1902) and bequeathed upon his death to the South African nation.
All the objects are described in a catalogue and kept in the office of the Curator of the Groote Schuur collection, as well as the offices of the National Monuments Council at 111 Harrington Street, Cape Town.
