The printing press, which is currently housed at the Kuruman Mission Station, was brought to South Africa in 1825 by the London Missionary Society and given to Robert Moffat. The press was manufactured in c.1823, and is presumably the oldest printing press in Southern Africa. The first Bible to be printed in Africa was printed on this press. The translation of the Bible into Sechuana was also printed on the press, after which it became internationally known.
