The original bell, which was cast in Hamburg, Germany, does not presently form part of the bell tower for security reasons and has been replaced by a new bell mounted in a free-standing modern bell tower. However, the old bell symbolizes important historical missionary connections between the Lutheran congregation in Christianenburg. Germany, and the Berlin Mission known by the same name and situated in Clermont, South Africa.
