Interim Comment
The Development Applications Unit (DAU) notes the submission of the HIA report and Desktop PIA report however, the proposed development application does not appear to have been sent to the Rock Art Research Institute (RARI) as a key stakeholder of the area (as per the requirements of SAHRIS V1 Case ID 12878) as part of the public participation phase of the EA application. The comments and response report does not indicate that communication was attempted.
The SAHRA requests that the BAR and the HIA and Palaeontological Desktop Study is sent to the RARI for consultation.
The Palaeontological Desktop Study must be submitted to the case on SAHRIS for review as well.
The applicant is advised to extend the EA application process in terms of section19(1)b of the NEMA EIA regulations in order to address this comment.
