Statement of Significance

This house, with its magnificent wooden decorated verandah, was designed in 1897 by D W Greatbatch for a member of the Diamond Syndicate, Gustav Bonas. John Orr, the well-known merchant, lived Dunluce from 1903 till his death in 1932. Thereafter the property was occupied by members of his family until 1975 when Barlow Rand Limited bought the building, restored it and donated it to the McGregor Museum.
