Statement of Significance

This Victorian building with its neo-Classical features was designed by J Laughton and was named after Queen Victoria to commemorate her sixtieth year as Queen of the British Empire. The cornerstone of the building was laid on 21 June 1897 and since its completion the building has been in continuous use as a drill hall.
