Statement of Significance

This richly ornamented Victorian, house is one of the so-called ostrich palaces and was designed by the well known architect Charles Bullock. It was erected during1909/10 for J. H. J. Ie Roux of the farm Baakenskraal at a stage when the ostrich feather industry was at its peak.
