Statement of Significance

Erected in 1899, the building comprising the Brister, Salomon and Goldschmidt Cottages of the Port Elizabeth ladies' Benevolent Society provides a simple architectural statement but at the same time an interesting insight into the social history of Port Elizabeth. The building also makes a pleasant contribution to the streetscape of Westbourne Road in view of its neat proportions.
