"The residency is one of the most historically significant sturctures to have survived in Ermelo. Situated in the centre of town the building is considered to be a landmark with the potential to be rehabilitated/restored and used by the Department of Justice. Considering the legal history of the structure, adaptive reuse for this department would be most appropriate. Declaration of the structure would clearly convey the NMC's concern regarding the future preservation of this heritage building and site. This building would be the first state-owned building to be declared a national monument in Ermelo".
