Statement of Significance

The site is of great importance in the early history of South Africa and featured prominently in the war of 1882-1883._x000D_

This site, which contains valuable ethnological remains, is of great cultural importance to the Ndebele people and it also featured prominently in the ware of the Boers under Comdt.-Gen. Piet Joubert against Njabel, who succeeded Mapog as chief of the Ndebele.
