Statement of Significance

At this site along the Koringspruit, Gen. C. R. de Wet, Chief Commandant of the Orange Free State Commandos, outmaneuvered the British forces under Brig. Gen. R. G. Broadwood on 31 March 1900. The military tactics displayed here by Gen. De Wet later became famous in military history.
