Statement of Significance

This cemetery contains the mortal remains of 1 263 women and children who died during the Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902) in the concentration camp at Brandfort. The cemetery, which was designed by J. du Toit, was officially opened on 22 September 1962 by President C. R. Swart.
