Erected in 1892, this temple is a typical small cane workers temple in the South Indian, Dravidian style. Erected by indentured labourers it serves an important religious and social function in Ottawa. Typical of small Dravidian temples, the structure has a simple iron kodi pole and square corrugated-iron roofed cella. The major feature is the sikhara at the rear. This consists of a low square pyramid tower supported on a concave niche.
