Clydesdale Pit Project

The proposed Clydesdale Pit Project will entail the mining of the previously undermined Clydesdale Pan area (approx. 505ha) via opencast - to commence in 2029, for a period of ± 10 yrs where after rehabilitation will be undertaken​ with the aim to reinstate the pan and associated wetlands. The total area of the proposed project will be approx. 1 000 ha. The proposed project will extend the life of the Greenside Colliery to approximately 2036​Proposed open cast mining operation on the farms Blaauwkrans 323 JS (Ptn 0, 14, 15 & 29), Klipfontein 322 JS (Ptn 9 & 145), Groenfontein 331 JS (Ptn 2 & 3).
