Soom Member with moderately diverse marine biota of various microfossils, “algae”, soft-bodied and shelly invertebrates (eurypterids, trilobites, nautiloids, brachiopods etc), primitive jawless fish, some showing exceptional soft tissue preservation.
Disa Member with low-diversity shelly invertebrate dominated by brachiopods, also rare molluscs, trilobites, shallow marine trace fossil assemblages
Cederberg Fm biota not recorded yet in E. Cape.
Potentially fossiliferous mudrocks in E. Cape often affected by intense cleavage and shearing, compromising both preservation and collection of fossil material.
This unit often obscured by Cape age deformation and poor exposure of mudrocks in mountainous terrain. Its development in the E. Cape is not well understood.
