Dear Dr A. Norwood,

Thank you for your response. We have had further discussions over your application and have a number of concerns that we request you clarify. 

Your proposal states that 465 powdered enamel samples are to be taken from 6 Western Cape sites and other sites in the rest of the country including Bushman Rockshelter and Sehonghong. The HWC permit and 3 repository agreements only detail 160 samples from the Western Cape (83 – Iziko, 48 – UCT & 29- Florisbad). Your sample list details 465 samples, all of which being from Western Cape sites. No listing of Bushman Rockshelter and Sehonghong samples are included. Your letter response dated 22 November 2023 requests that 248 samples be taken from Boomplaas when only 54 samples from Boomplaas were granted in the repository agreement from Iziko. 

Kindly clarify on the following;

- why the 3 Western Cape repository agreements only detail 160 samples whereas your sample list details all 465 samples being from the Western Cape.

- why are there no samples from Bushman Rockshelter and Sehonghong included in the sample list, &

- why does the sample number detailed by your letter request differ from the sample number detailed in the Iziko repository agreement?
