Access details
The National Museum is fully accessible for the physically disabled. A lift provides access to the first floor for people using wheel chairs.
Certain exhibitions are available as touch exhibits for the blind with Braille descriptions (ask the caretakers for a guide). The Museum endeavours to provide large format text and suitable lighting to aid sight-impaired persons.
An audio guide with additional information in English, Afrikaans and Sesotho on certain exhibits is available free of charge to visitors.
The auditorium of the National Museum can seat 200 people and is equipped with a data projector and sound system. Prospective users are required to bring their own laptops/ computers. Tearoom facilities are available.
The Museum Shop sells a variety of African curios, including woodcarvings and beadwork, as well as postcards and other gifts.
