Interim Comment

The SAHRA Development Applications Unit (DAU) cannot accept the HIA report as it is not a HIA report as per the SAHRA Archaeology, Palaeontology, and Meteorites minimum standards for impact assessment reports. It must be noted that a port is handled at the national level as per the NHRA in terms of section 35 and any permits must be obtained from SAHRA along with any comments.

Please ensure that a proper HIA by a maritime archaeologist and a palaeontologist must be appointed to undertake such assessments. Such an assessment must be undertaken by the respective specialists for the commenting and a further permit in terms of section 35 of the NHRA for the maritime structures older than 60 years.
