Proposal Description
The purpose of the Pictor Gas Pipeline is to deliver natural gas to Pictor Thermal Power Plant, sourced from the future “IPPs Natural Gas delivery point” of the LNG Import and Re-gasification Terminal planned by Transnet at the Port of Richards Bay.
The Pictor Thermal Power Plant will be a Gas-to-Power Plant fueled with Natural Gas, with a Maximum Export Capacity up to 2000 MW, proposed by Pictor Energy (Pty) Ltd on Portion 1 of ERF 15665, Richards Bay GV, located ±11 km North-West of the Port of Richards Bay, ±2 km East of Empangeni and South-East of the regional road R102.
The IPPs Natural Gas delivery point is proposed by Transnet on Portion 45 of ERF 5333, Richards Bay GV.
Pictor Energy (Pty) Ltd intends to participate with the Pictor Thermal Power Plant and the associated Pictor Gas Pipeline in the next rounds of the Risk Mitigation and/or Gas IPP Procurement Programme, with the purpose of filling the current short-term supply gap and of alleviating the current electricity supply constraints.
