Sunriver Citrus Farm 714

The development will include the clearance of approximately 300 hectares (ha) of indigenous vegetation, the establishment of citrus orchards, construction of one (1) off-stream dam, a pipeline and associated infrastructure. The proposed activity will include the clearance of 300 ha of indigenous vegetation for the development of 250 ha of citrus orchards, one (1) off-stream dam with a capacity of 45 000 m3 and a dam wall height of 5 m or less, a pipeline and associated infrastructure on Farm No. 714. Irrigation to the orchards will be gravity fed by the water from the Sundays River canal via an existing pipeline and the proposed dam. Access to the proposed development will be via existing gravel roads that join the regional road (R336). The applicant proposes to develop additional internal service roads to access areas of the orchard for planting, harvesting and maintenance purposes of the pipeline and dam.
