In cursive writing below the drawing: Geometrical View of the Mansion of the Estate Newlands, augmented with a portico, two columns and new windows, adjusted by the Inspector of the Civil Buildings, according to the desire of His Excellency, Sir David Baird, Kt. Ct., Lieutenant General, Governor and Commander in Chief of the Cape of Good Hope, and its dependencies. On back of photo in pencil: Photo of a drawing by L M Thibault in the Cape Archives. Plus title plus dates 1806-1807.
