Proposal Description
SolarAfrica Energy (Pty) Ltd is proposing the construction and operation of a Photovoltaic (PV) Solar Energy Facility and associated infrastructure to provide electricity directly to the Ceramic Industries facility located adjacent to the site. The proposed development will be situated on a site located ~14km west of the town of Vanderbijlpark within the Emfuleni Local Municipality and Sedibeng District Municipality, Gauteng Province.
The facility will have a contracted capacity of up to 10MW and will be known as Ceramic 10MW Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Facility. The power will be evacuated by an 11kV overhead power line and auto recloser. The power line runs from the transformer stations within the PV facility to the existing switchgear substation at Ceramic Industries.
A preferred development footprint with an extent of ~20ha has been identified by SolarAfrica Energy (Pty) Ltd as a technically suitable area for the development of the Ceramic Industries Solar PV Facility. The project site comprises the following farm portions:
