Unauthorised Additions and Alterations on Portion 3 and 4 of erf 784 Dunns Grant at 636 South Coast Road, Clairwood, Durban,

We acknowledge receipt of your application for a permit to carry out work on the above property. The KZN Amafa and Research Institute (the Institute) reviewed the application on 18 December 2024, 29 January 2025, 12 February 2025.

Please be advised as follows: - 

 (1)           The Institute was unable to consider the merits of the application as the work had already commenced, alternatively, has been completed. 

(2)           As a result, a permit cannot now be issued. 

(3)           We would like to draw your attention to the fact that your failure to obtain a permit prior¬ to the commencement of the work, is in contravention of the provisions of the KwaZulu-Natal Amafa and Research Institute Act (5 of 2018), and as such is a criminal offence for which you may be prosecuted. 

(4)           However, the Institute has decided to condone your failure to obtain a permit, as required, on condition that the work was conducted strictly in accordance with a grade, Not Conservation Worthy, Siddeeq – Design Z.A. design, consult, construct, drawing no., (02)01,(02)02,(02)03,(02)10,(02)11,(02)12,(02)13,(02)20,(02)21,(02)22,(02)23,(02)31,(02)32, Date: 03 February 2025 received by The Institute on the 06 December 2024, and that all the work shown on the application is completed within a calendar year of the date of this letter.  

(5)           Prior written approval from the Institute is required for any deviation to the approved plans. 

(6)         applicant would reinstate some of the work that was carried out prior to Amafa approval e.g. remove painting on the face brick walls.

(7)           No legal action will be instituted against you in this instance.
