Nsovo Leeuwpoort mining

Nsovo Environmental Consulting CC proposes to undertake a mining Right for Coal for a period of 30 years over the farm Leeuwpoort 205 IR portion RE,1,2,3,4,6,10,11,12 situated in Delmas within Victor Khanye Local Municipality in Mpumalanga Province. The commodity will be mined by an open cast mining method. This method consists of blasting of the mineral followed by excavation of the loosened mineral by excavators, loading of it onto tipper trucks which then transport the mineral out of the mining area to the plant where it is crushed into desirable sizes.The topsoil and overburden will be removed and stockpiled separately for later use when the mine is rehabilitated. Blasting will occur more than once a month. The noise caused by blasting will be instantaneous and of short duration. As there are residents within close proximity to the proposed mining area, the blasting at the site will have an adverse effect on surrounding landowners. The applicant must ensure that all surrounding residents are informed of each blasting event.
