BSC 1: CONSTRUCTION OF THE RIVERTON TO MIDSTATION BULK WATER PIPELINE.

Sol Plaatje Municipality (SPM) has for a long time been experiencing significant water loss due to ongoing pipe failures and major leaks at ancillary components such as valves and off-takes. SPM has thus embarked on an Integrated Bulk Water Supply Intervention Process with the following aim and objectives:
• Repair the leaks and/or replace dysfunctional equipment or pipe sections on both the bulk water supply and water reticulation pipe systems.
• Refurbish and replace faulty mechanical and electrical equipment at the Riverton Water Treatment Works to meet the 2050 demand and produce water that is compliant with SANS 241.
• Implement systems to ensure proper operation, maintenance monitoring and control as well as cost recovery of the water supply system to ensure long-term sustainability.
