AECOM SA (Pty) Ltd (AECOM) has been appointed by Microsoft 1968 South Africa (Pty) Ltd. (Microsoft) as the Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to manage the required environmental authorisation (EA) application, water use licence (WUL) application, and air emission licence (AEL) application for the proposed JNB05-06 Data Centre Project (the Project). The Project is located on Erf 90 Founders Hill Ext 28 in Modderfontein, City of Johannesburg (CoJ), Gauteng Province. Additionally, three alternative off-site locations are being considered for establishing a laydown area for the Project. These locations include Founders Hill Ext 27, situated at the north-eastern corner of Kempton Park Road and the Maxwell Drive intersection; the proposed Founders Hill Ext 14, which is yet to be proclaimed and lies at the south-eastern corner of Kempton Park Road and the Maxwell Drive intersection; and part of the Remainder of the Farm Longmeadow 296-IR along with part of the Remainder of Portion 69 of the Farm Modderfontein 35 IR, situated at the south-western corner of Kempton Park Road and the Maxwell Drive intersection.
