    Proposal Description
    This application is for the supply of bulk electricity. The Marula Platinum Mine’s power supply capacity needs to be upgraded from the current 80 MVA to 120 MVA to cater for peak power demand during Phase II of mining production. The Marula mine is located about 43 km to the west of Burgersfort close to the R37 Polokwane-Burgersfort Road. The proposed infrastructure, the overhead powerline, will be transferred to Eskom after commissioning.

    The high-level scope is as follows:

    At Winnaarshoek substation:
     1 x 40 MVA 132/33 kV equipped transformer bay
     1 x 132 kV equipped feeder bay (Leseding)
     Upgrades of existing feeder bays
     Extension of the 33 kV HV yard

    At Leseding MTS:
     1 x 132 kV equipped feeder bay (Winnaarshoek)

    132 kV Line:
     10.4 km Kingbird 132 kV line from Leseding MTS to Winnaarshoek Substation.

    Laydown area:
     A temporary laydown area is required for the construction phase of the power line, at Winnaarshoek Substation.
