REFERRAL LETTER/RESPONSE LETTER
The permit application in respect of the above, received and reviewed on 12 March 2025 by the KwaZulu-Natal Amafa and Research Institute (The Institute) refers.
Amongst other things the following was discussed:
- The committee noted that the photographs submitted appeared to be old and did not show all the alterations.
- It appeared from the drawings that the back and front verandas had been enclosed.
- The committee noted that the building had been included in the Professor Peters survey of Queensburgh and RD would contact Prof. Peters and Arthur Gammage to establish the heritage significance that was determined during that survey.
- The application was then referred for further requirements detailed below.
FURTHER REQUIREMENTS
- The applicant was required to provide recent photographs showing all four elevations of the property and all the areas that have been altered.
- RD would contact Prof Peters and Arthur Gammage to find out more about the heritage value that was perceived at the time of the Queensburgh Survey of the site.
Written responses/requests for reconsideration of the application or consideration of new information must be loaded to the case on SAHRIS (email [email protected]) within 30 days of the date of this letter or any requirements/decisions contained herein will be considered final. Extensions of this time frame can be requested upon receipt of motivation.
Required additional information or revised drawings must be submitted within six months from the date of this letter or the application will lapse and a new application will be required.
THIS LETTER DOES NOT CONSTITUTE FORMAL APPROVAL OF THE PROPOSAL SUBMITTED TO THE INSTITUTE. UNAUTHORISED WORK CARRIED OUT ON THE ABOVE SITE WILL BE IN CONTRAVENTION OF THE KWAZULU-NATAL AMAFA AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE ACT (5 of 2018).
