132kV Electrical Grid Infrastructure (powerline) and associated infrastructure from the Welverdiend Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to the Carmel Substation, Merafong City Local Municipality, Gauteng Province

Mulilo is proposing to install a 132 kV overhead Powerline and associated infrastructures from the recently approved Welverdiend Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to the Carmel Substation near Carletonville Town. Two alternatives are considered for the 132kV Overhead Powerline. These follow largely the same route from the Welverdiend BESS towards the Carmel Substation, however with a slight difference at the connection entry points to the Carmel Substation. The Alternative 1 (preferred alternative) route (approximately 6.67 km in length) entails connecting within the south-western zone of the substation whereas Alternative 2 (approximately 6.75 km in length) will connect within the north-western zone.
