Redding Wind Farm

The development of an up to 576MW wind energy facility, which includes wind turbines, a collector substation, 132kV power line, access roads (gravel in nature), temporary laydown areas, Operation and Maintenance Buildings. Location: The project site is located between Somerset East and Makhanda approximately 47km south-east of Somerset East, within the Blue Crane Route Local Municipality and the Sarah Baartman District Municipality in the Eastern Cape Province. The site falls within Focus Area 3 of the Renewable Energy Development Zones (REDZ), which is known as the Cookhouse REDZ. Seven (13) properties comprise the project site: Farm Number 369, Portion 2 of the consolidated farm Shepherds Rest No 272, Remainder of Farm Varkens Kuil No 269,Portion 3 (Vlak Leegte) of the Farm Driefontein No 259, Portion 1 (Opmeet Fontein) of the farm Gras Fonteyn no 258, Remaining extent of the farm Draai Van Klein Visch Rivier 254 , Portion 1 of the farm Bothas Hoop No. 358, Remainder of the Farm Request No 271 , Portion 2 (a portion of portion 1) of the Farm Request No 271, Remainder of Portion 1 of farm Request 271, Portion 9 of the farm Britzkraal No 253, Portion 8 (a Portion of Portion 7) of the farm Britzkraal No 253 and Portion 7 of the farm Britzkraal No 253.
